Who we help after theft or vandalism
A theft or vandalism claim is mostly a list of what is gone or broken, and the proof behind it. We take these claims for:
- Homeowners after a burglary, stolen belongings, forced doors and broken windows, or graffiti and other deliberate damage
- Landlords and owners of multi-unit homes, after break-ins or deliberate damage to units and common areas
- Business and industrial property owners with smashed storefronts, stolen stock or equipment (see commercial claims and industrial claims)
Report the crime to the police first, then call us; we can step in before you file or after the insurer has answered.
What our clients say about their claims
I recommend that anyone who finds themselves initiating any sort of insurance claim start with Accurate Claims Consulting.

Insurer-side training, policyholder-side loyalty. Our public adjusters have worked for major insurance companies like Farmers, State Farm and Allstate, which gives them inside knowledge of what you are owed for your claim. Each has a Bachelor’s degree at minimum, and some are US military veterans. About Accurate Claims Consulting
How we handle a theft or vandalism claim

- Secure the report and the scene. We work from your police report and photograph forced entry points, broken glass and damaged property.
- Rebuild the list. We go room by room, then category by category, to list every stolen or damaged item with brand, model, age and condition.
- Prove and price each item. We match items to photos, receipts, order histories and statements, and price them at today’s replacement cost.
- Check the limits. We look at actual cash value or replacement cost terms and the sublimits that cap categories such as jewelry and firearms.
- Settle on contingency. Our fee comes out of the settlement, never out of your pocket up front.
What insurers dispute on theft and vandalism claims

Can you prove you owned it?
You will not have a receipt for everything, and that is expected. Phone photos from everyday life, email receipts, online order histories, card and bank statements and warranty registrations all help establish ownership; our guide to building a personal property inventory covers each one.
What is a stolen item worth?
Replacement cost is what a comparable new item costs today, not what you paid years ago. On an actual cash value policy, depreciation is subtracted; on a replacement cost policy, the rest is released after you replace the item and submit the documentation.
Is the category capped?
A policy can set sublimits for jewelry, furs, firearms, cash and business property, regardless of the overall contents limit. Knowing those caps early tells you which items need the most documentation.

Licensing and where we work
Our public adjusters are licensed in California by the California Department of Insurance, where policyholders can also take questions or complaints about how a theft claim is being handled. In Arizona, the regulator is the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions.

Theft and vandalism claim questions
What does a public adjuster do on a theft or vandalism claim?
We represent the policyholder. We build and value the list of stolen and damaged items, gather proof of ownership, price the repairs to the property and negotiate with the insurer.
Is there a fee before the claim is paid?
No. We charge nothing up front and are paid from the settlement on a 100% contingency basis. Your first consultation is free.
What should I do right after a break-in?
Make sure it is safe, report it to the police, photograph the damage and do not throw away broken property until it is documented. Then start writing down what is missing.
I do not have receipts. Can I still claim?
Yes. Photos, statements, order histories and warranty records can stand in for receipts, and items without proof can still be described honestly on the list.
Why is the payment lower than the cost of new items?
Your policy may pay actual cash value, which subtracts depreciation, or replacement cost, which pays the difference only after you replace the item and send in the paperwork. We check which applies.
Do you handle vandalism at rentals and businesses?
Yes. Break-ins and deliberate damage at rentals, apartment buildings, shops and industrial sites are all claims we take on.
How do I check that an adjuster is licensed?
Use the license lookup on the California Department of Insurance website, and ask for the adjuster’s license number before signing.
Where do you take theft and vandalism claims?
We are based in Studio City and represent policyholders in California, Arizona, Connecticut and Georgia.
